The poster is commonly known as BICENTENNIAL POSTER, and was designed by RFL in 1976 as part of a portfolio called America: The Third Century. The portfolio was commissioned by Mobil Oil Corporation for the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration, and featured 13 artists, including Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Rucsha, Christo and James Rosenquist.
It was printed by Sanders Printing, New York, and published by APC Editions. There was also a signed and numbered edition of 200, which excluded the text at the bottom of the sheet. This 8-color silkscreen was printed on a medium weight woven paper. The sheet measures 35" x 23.625" , and is in excellent vintage condition. The colors are very bright, with no tears or scuffs to the sheet.
There is a very small amount of light soiling in the lower center text margin as shown (3rd image), and a couple areas of very light edge wear as shown (7th image). It is unsigned and has never been framed. An extremely nice copy of a rare poster. This poster is guaranteed to be a genuine silkscreen from the original edition, and is not a modern day reproduction or giclee.
These digitally reproduced giclee prints are nothing more than modern day copies, and are fraudulently being passed off as valuable originals... At the moment, many of these fakes are coming out of Europe (Germany, Denmark, Netherlands) as well as Central Florida.
